OUR STORY
What started out as a small fudge shop called OH FUDGE is turning out to be more than we have ever expected. Our fudge making has now turned into a second generation family business. It all started when Pop started making fudge as a way to relax while attending college. We were told that our correct title is “Artisan Confectioners”. Our so called shop is what’s known as a Confectionery. The difference is that the Artisan Confectioner sells what he makes, often where he makes it. We know of many places that sell fudge but never realized what made us stand apart from the other “candy stores”.

From the beginning we have been making fudge using sugar, cream, light corn syrup, unsalted butter, and a pinch of sea salt. Looking for suggestions, Pop would give his sister fudge to take into work for the first few years back in the 70's. She worked as an RN in the neonatal (infants intensive care) department. He asked that she place a sheet of paper next to the box of fudge for suggestions. For the first few years, he received valuable information to improve my fudge. After that, the comments mostly asked for more fudge and different flavors that he has not thought of. Some of the doctors and nurses suggested that he open a business and sell the fudge. They claimed that they had never tasted fudge of this quality. We use only the FINEST BELGIAN CHOCOLATE and PURE VANILLA EXTRACT (100% MADAGASCAR BOURBON) with real Vanilla Beans. It is similar to quality vanilla ice cream with the little black specks in it.

It had been eight years at this point, but pop had an accounting career and family to take care of. As life goes, time passes so quickly. It was now July 2015, we had never been to the northern part of the Jersey Shore. The first thing that we had noticed was the lack of any quality fudge shops. Frank and I asked Pop, “Could it be possible the residents and vacationers never knew what we knew growing up on the South Jersey coast?” We knew that it would be hard work setting up a shop, but Frank and I insisted that pop live the dream he had and that we wanted to keep that dream alive. We enjoy staying busy and always loved the shore, so we began to make it happen. We love being part of a small quaint community called Ocean Grove, NJ. We are happy to announce that fall 2017 we have opened our second shop in Ocean City, NJ.
Thank you all,
